Distance and Bearing Between Two Points

Enter the coordinates of two points to get the horizontal distance, bearing from north, coordinate differences and slope.

How to use this tool

  1. Enter the easting and northing in metres for the first and second point, both on the same coordinate system.
  2. Add the two levels if you want the height difference and slope, or leave them blank.
  3. Press Calculate to see the distance and the bearing clockwise from north.

FAQ

Can I enter latitude and longitude?

This tool works in metres. Convert latitude and longitude to UTM first with the coordinate converter.

Is this distance measured on the ground?

It is a flat distance on the projection plane. It can differ slightly from the ground distance, especially over long lines, because of projection scale and elevation.

What does bearing mean?

The angle of the line clockwise from north, from 0 to 360 degrees. North here is grid north in the coordinate system.
