FREE TOOL

GPS ↔ UTM Coordinate Converter

Convert latitude/longitude (WGS84) to UTM and back, for a single point or a whole list.

For UTM → GPS you must choose the zone.

How to use this tool

  1. Choose the direction: from latitude/longitude (GPS) to UTM, or back.
  2. Enter one point per line. You can add a name first, e.g. P1, 31.2001, 29.9187
  3. Latitude/longitude can be decimal (31.2001) or degrees-minutes-seconds (31 12 0.36).
  4. Press Convert and copy the result as CSV for Excel or AutoCAD.

FAQ

Which UTM zones cover Egypt?

Egypt spans three zones: 35N (24°–30°E, e.g. Alexandria and Matrouh), 36N (30°–36°E, e.g. Cairo, the Delta, Upper Egypt and Sinai) and 37N (east of 36°E, e.g. parts of the Red Sea coast). The tool picks the zone from the longitude automatically, or you can force one if your project straddles two zones.

Does it convert to the Egyptian grid (Red/Purple belts)?

No. The tool works on the global WGS84 datum and UTM projection. Converting to the Egypt 1907 grid needs datum transformation parameters and is best done in survey software, or ask us as part of a survey.

How accurate is the conversion?

The formulas are accurate to under a millimetre within a zone. Final accuracy depends on your input: phone coordinates can be off by several metres, while GNSS RTK receivers are accurate to centimetres.
